A season of two halves that started some 7 months ago comes to it's conclusion this Saturday from 4pm at Meeanee Speedway.
The hard hitting Streetstocks will be contesting a PAIRS EVENT, and at their last meeting stole the show with some incredible old-school racing and hard hitting. The class has been hugely entertaining this season, and with 20 plus cars on the track carnage will be the rule not the exception.
The Ministock kids have barely had time to breathe after last week’s Boys & Girls championships, and tonight will be racing for the PISTON CUP. 55b Asha Penn possibly racing in her last Ministock event will be one of the contenders as will 61b Henry Steele. Both of these talented youngsters finished second in their respective titles last meeting, but will face tough competition from Hawkes Bay and East Coast champion 72b Bailey Smith (also racing his last meeting in the class), 98b Deegan Butcher or the fast improving 78b Blake Barraclough and 48b Riley McLachlan. Meeanee has a rich vein of talented young drivers coming through the class, and these kids will be stepping on the gas to try and lift the title.
Production Saloons will also be racing and hoping for a two-lane race track. Hawkes Bay's top driver 22b Denton Hodgkinson is the master of running out by the fence, but could face some stiff opposition from travelling drivers.
Stockcars will be having their last hit out at Meeanee and with an off-season approaching the hits could be brutal. Hawkes Bay has a great lineup of local drivers who know how to entertain the fans, so maybe the angle grinders and welders will be kept busy in the pits as they put in some final meeting paybacks?
It's also the last Demolition Derby including the popular mid-meeting Street Race for the Derby cars. If you are interested in doing a Derby next season, head into the pits and talk to the drivers - you only have to see the smiles on their faces when it's all over to see just how much fun they were having.
