Meeanee Speedway is located at the Papakura Domain in Sandy Road, Meeanee situated centrally between the two cities of Napier and Hastings.
This Domain is not only the home of Meeanee Speedway, the track grounds are also shared with Riding for the Disabled and Napier Dog Obedience. The Marineland Hot Rod Club are situated on the adjoining grounds along with Earth Gardens.
Speedway has been running in Hawkes Bay for over 50 years. The current track site was developed in 1961 followed by the forming of Hawkes Bay Speedway Club in 1965.
The sunny, Mediterranean style climate and the long hot summers we have here in the Hawkes Bay make it perfect weather for Speedway. Our season starts in late October, running through to late April or early May.
National statistics reveal that more than 1.5 million fans attend Speedway meetings around New Zealand, which is only surpassed by the Super Rugby series.
Over the years Meeanee Speedway has hosted many national championships and our Hawkes Bay Speedway Club competitors have taken out many national titles. This season is no exception as we are proud to be hosting more championships and look forward to producing more national title holders.
Currently nine different classes race on the clay and lime track surface; Superstocks, Stockcars, Streetstocks, Youth Ministocks, Super Saloons, Saloons, TQ Midgets, Production Saloons and Sidecars.
So whether you come to watch the powerful Superstocks or the entertaining crash and bash of Stockcars, to Sidecars and Youth Ministocks you are in for a great night of racing entertainment.
Meeanee Speedway is a vaping and smoke free arena. We have designated smoking areas: behind both Napier and Hastings grandstands, in the pits outside fenced area in front of clubrooms.
No camping is allowed at any time.
