Rep’s Race Reports …..
Stockcars – Andrew
Race one was won by 25B Bryce Cross with a last lap pass over Ben Milne. Both drivers showing good speed with fast cars chasing three seconds behind
Race two was won by 5B Regan Penn after a DNF race one keeping him in the points race
Feature race was a Nail Biting Race, Taken out by Cross closely followed by Regan Penn who tried but couldn’t quite get there on the last corner, 261B Ethan Anderson coming home in third. This means Regan has taken the points lead off 261B Ethan Anderson after attracting some attention from 96B Brandon Symes trolling the pole line in practice for teams racing. Another driver to keep an eye on as a first season Stockcar driver is 8B Thomas Rumble who is having a lot of fun in the class and is learning to use his bumper and it looks like Bryce Cross may have found his reliability and got his speed back finally. A Good Nights Racing by All.
Saloons – Tracey
A Great meeting for the Saloons last night with race two seeing an amazing battle between the Martin brothers and Josh Smith. 6 laps of the three cars with barely an inch between them all fighting for the pass to take the lead. Kevin managed to hold off the other two and take the Win.
It was also great to see action down the rear end of the field, three of them having a battle of there own over the three races with Steve Goodwin pushing hard to be the best of the rest having his 2nd place taken from him with a slip to the grass.
Cant wait to see what action the Hawkes Bay Champs will bring.
Superstocks – Barry
Superstocks really turned on the entertainment, with action aplenty all night. 21 cars in total included the Wellington Wildcats 5 cars, Rotorua 3 cars and 13 locals. Locals returning to the fold for their first night were Thomas Stanaway (87B) with his brand new car, Regan O’Brien (52B), Jason Long (41B), and Adam Groome (9B). Maddie Wise (136B) returned from his work base in Christchurch especially for this race meeting.
The first race scheduled was the Hawkes Bay Hawkeyes, Regan O’Brien (52B), Quintin Butcher (98B), Randal Tarrant (66B), Zach Lawrence (22B) and Adam Groome (9B) reserve car, versus Wellington Wildcats, Hilton Parker (321W), Richard Gaskin (22W), Regan Levien (5W), Dave Hughes (16W) and Shane Davis (7W) reserve.
This Teams Race was supposed to be a “friendly” affair but turned out rather harshly for some of the competitors after assessing the damage afterwards.
Quintin Butcher (98B) was set upon from race start by two Wildcat cars and suffered left front wheel and stub axle damage.
However he continued to circulate and disrupted the Wildcat cars at reduced speed wherever possible – he was supposed to be the flyer.
Regan O’Brien also spent the race in blocking mode, causing a fair amount of mayhem to the Wildcats.
Meanwhile, new Hawkeye Randal Tarrant (66B) seized the moment right from the start to leap through a gap and continued to lead the race to the end.
Several Wildcat cars tried vainly to stop his progress, but he managed to avoid the contact with some clever passing manoeuvres.
He was chased to the end by Regan Levien (5W), followed by Zach Lawrence (22B) running as Tarrant’s back-up.
The end result was a win to the Hawkeyes, either by first over the line, or 135 points to 60.
Ministocks – Claire
With the “Big Guns” away in Gisborne, A slightly Smaller Group of Ministocks hit the track this Weekend, this gave the “Juniors” a Taste of Clutch Race Starts and they All did Well, not a Stall in sight. Action a plenty with the two groups mixed, everyone is certainly Improving Fast and that’s good to see. 97B Mashall Zachan had the honor of taking the first two Race Wins and Breaking the Track record in the Feature Race (Tho this is yet to be confirmed due to a technical Transponder / Computer error last meeting!) But it was 6RHB Liam Reid who Lead from the Front to take home the Chixieland Chicken Feature Race of the Night.
